Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #1 to be Digital-First Comic for #MayThe4th

Did you know that the first public use of 'May The Fourth Be With You' was by the Saatchi & Saatchi London advertising agency on behalf of the Conservative Government of the UK congratulating the new Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on her election victory on that day in 1979? Well, it was. Anyway, tomorrow will see Marvel Comics release the digital copy of the delayed Star Wars: Doctor Aphra comic on Monday. May the Fourth, as opposed to the print copy landing on Wednesday, May the 27th. Looks like DC Comics bringing their titles forward to Tuesdays encouraged Marvel Comics to ask them to hold their blue milk and go for a three weeks ahead solution instead.

Doctor Aphra was created by Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larocca for the Darth Vader comic book, as an archaeologist-for-hire, working for Darth Vader but showing no partisan allegiance, and has since appeared in other media. She's basically the Indiana Jones of the Star Wars universe. There has been plenty of speculation that she may even be getting a TV appearance on Disney +.

Cover by VALENTINA REMENAR

Written by Alyssa Wong with art by Marika Cresta, the series equips Doctor Aphra with both a new crew and a new mission set in the aftermath of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. With the Rebel Alliance back on the run after their defeat at the Battle of Hoth, it's never been a more dangerous time for outlaws, scoundrels and the errant rogue archaeologist to make their way in the galaxy.  But after a string of bad luck and near escapes, Doctor Aphra has been keeping a low profile—jobs are scarce and credits scarcer. But the promise of the score of a lifetime is just too good for her to pass up.
