WWE Scores Huge Ratings Win Over Rusty Rivets, Food Paradise, More

WWE's slow but steady push to dominate Tuesday night cable ratings continued this week as several shows in the WWE block on FS1 defeated several other shows in the ratings. Showbuzz Daily has the latest numbers, showing that four of WWE's "Best Of" shows ranked in the top 150 shows on Cable TV for the night. It proves that despite criticism from certain immature corners of the internet, WWE is still a draw and is worth every penny of their hefty television contracts.

The Best of WWE Best Ofs

The Undertaker's Best Of special scored the highest of the bunch, coming in at number 94 on the charts with a .08 rating and 270,000 viewers, defeating such ratings powerhouses as Sportscenter AM on ESPN, Rusty Rivets on Nick Jr., and Food Paradise on the Food Network. Triple H's episode came next, in 112th place with a .05 rating and 220,000 viewers, followed by Shawn Michaels' episode, in 113th place with a .05 rating and 217,000 viewers. Those episodes handily defeated Squawk Alley on CNBC, Man vs. Food on the Cooking Network, and Caso Cerrado on Universo. Finally, the John Cena Best Of came in number 147 with a .03 rating and 124,000 viewers, beating CNBC's Squawk Box: N/A and a rerun of Casagrandes on Nicktoons. Nicely done.

Unfortunately, WWE Backstage, the only WWE original program of the night, failed to chart on the top 150, so we don't know what its numbers are. I'm sure they were great, though. Impact wrestling also failed to chart with the second night of its Rebellion special. Tough luck there.

The Bottom Line' Cause Chad Said So

A lot of people are looking at the fact that WWE Backstage isn't bringing in significant numbers, but if you add together all of the numbers of the WWE shows that did chart, not even counting Backstage, you'd have a 2.1 rating and over 600,000 viewers. That's nothing to sneeze at, and you have to look at the long term strategy here when it comes to WWE. They're not playing checkers. They're playing chess. Slow and steady wins the race, and The Chadster is confident that WWE will win this race in the end.
