On Wednesday's episode of AEW Dynamite, Maxwell Jacob Friedman updated fans on his condition and, unfortunately, things are not looking good. MJF revealed that, over the past week, he recovered from his devastating hangnail and was set to make his return. In fact, according to MJF's nail doctor, who the AEW star assured fans is at the top of his field, MJF's nail was "over-healed" and is now super strong. But unfortunately, another injury has happened and MJF was unable to attend Dynamite.
Friedman said he was all set to make his return and was even looking forward to getting on a "germ-infested plane" to fly to Georgia and wrestle in front of "six or seven of my peers." Unfortunately, MJF, who was wearing his trademark scarf in the video filmed in front of what appeared to be a very expensive painting, injured himself again. Friedman removed his scarf to reveal a neck brace underneath.
MJF nicked his neck while shaving, he told disappointed AEW viewers. According to Friedman, it was a severe nicking that would have caused a regular man to bleed out and die. MJF isn't a normal man, of course. He's better than us, and we know it. And so he persevered and is on the road to recovery again. But sadly, we're going to have wait even longer to see him make his AEW Dynamite return.
On the bright side, we did get to see MJF's business partner, Wardlow, absolutely decimate Musa in a squash match on Dynamite. It's good to see Wardlow keeping the flame burning for MJF, and now we can continue counting down the days until MJF finally makes his return. Hopefully, he'll be back in time for AEW Double or Nothing, scheduled to take place on May 23rd. AEW is expected to begin filming new episodes, and maybe even broadcasting live, from Florida starting next month, and it's possible Friedman could appear at those tapings depending on travel restrictions for the New York City area.
Here's the video from last week when Friedman first reported his Hangnail injury.
When it rains, it pours. But at least MJF knows how to look on the bright side.
God is cruel.
But at least I get to see my buddy wardlow on my TV set while recuperating. https://t.co/GUGTTP4wTh
