Spinning out of that Deadpool issue a couple months back and in honor of Marvel’s 80th anniversary, Ziggy Pig Silly Seal Comics is getting a revival next week in Ziggy Pig Silly Seal Comics #1. But these aren’t the lovable anthropomorphic animals you remember (if you’re 100 years old). Instead, this is a grim and gritty world where Willy Seal runs guns from Silly Seal’s theme park and Ziggy Pig is an alcoholic loser.
But that’s not all that’s going on in next week’s issue, as there are at least three obvious counts of gimmick infringement in the preview alone.
First up, we’ve got Baron Zemo doing his best Wasp cosplay…
Next up, Silly Seal is clearly ripping off Scrooge McDuck.
And is this Ziggy Pig’s mom in a boxing match with… Bald Bull?
Ok, for the first two, you could at least make the case that Marvel’s parent company Disney owns those trademarks.
