FanX: Salt Lake Comic Convention Still Using ‘Formerly Salt Lake Comic Con’ Despite Court Ruling

Bleeding Cool ran a report on the court case that went against Dan Farr, Dan Farr Productions and Bryan Brandenburg of FanX: Salt Lake Comic Convention – formerly known as the Salt Lake Comic Con. See, Bleeding Cool can call them that, but according to the court report, they are not allowed to. As well as the four million legal fees awarded to San Diego Comic-Con regarding the use of the Comic-Con trademark, the Salt Lake show has been forbidden from using their previous title Salt Lake Comic Con, even if they put ‘formerly’ in front. They can’t use the old URL even to forward to the new one. It’s very restrictive.

And you can see in on the new website, which has put FanX: Salt Lake Comic Convention everywhere and removed Salt Lake Comic Con and ‘(formerly Salt Lake Comic Con)’. Everywhere it seems except for where it matters.

Because when you Google for Salt Lake Comic Con you get this.

With the logo still popping up. And…

But hey, that’s not their fault, right, it’s Google’s fault yes? Well, to a point. You can remove or alter such Google search results by filling in forms and the like. But what doesn’t help is when your website’s actual source code still ays Salt Lake Comic Con and ‘(formerly Salt Lake Comic Con)’ repeatedly, Just from one screengrab…

So no wonder search engines still go there. Can we start a countdown as to when this gets changed? Starting….now.
