DC Comics Puts Nails In Tyres Over Kryptonite Trademarks

Kryptonite, the fictional material created in the heart of an exploding planet Krypton, shards of which cause Superman pain or even death. And which have become so much a part of the English language that people may forget that DC Comics/Warner Bros has live trademarks covering its use.

Brian Rupp of Warner Bros has sent out the missive regarding Kryptonite Nails And Beauty of Fairfield, California, a home beauty service from Cheron Durley. That they are requesting an extension to oppose her trademark registration, as a result of the DC Comics trademark for Kryptonite, part of their Superman comics collection of trademarks.

Durley’s slogans do rather lay it on the line…

Though it does seem quite the busy period for DC Kryptonite-related trademark enforcement, as it takes James Z Weinberger from New York legal firm Fross Zelnick Lehrman & Zissu to issue the extension for another trademark challenge, against Chris Branton and Ryan Webb for registering the words Kryptonite Krawler and Kryptonite Racer and names for off-road tyres.
