Punisher Season 2 and Jessica Jones Season 3, the Last Marvel Netflix Shows? Will They End up on Marvel Unlimited?

It was a rumour I heard the other day from certain folk working on… rival TV shows, let’s call it that, regarding their distinguished competition over at Marvel. That the word was that after Jessica Jones and The Punisher series yet to air, that would be it for the Marvel Netflix shows. That was certainly the believed gossip on the floor, as actors were considering their other options.

Then it was officially announced that there would be no more Iron Fist at Netflix. Then there would be no more Luke Cage. And with Daredevil Season Three dropping, no news on what would follow.

I understand however that this may be more to do with political machinations between streaming service brands, and the belief that Disney may be using Netflix to bolster the appeal of certain shows before switching them entirely to its own streaming service launching in 2019.

It is possible however that the existing Netflix series may contain content that some at Disney may not be as entirely comfortable on their own branded streaming service. When it comes to films, R Rated movies won’t appear on their service but on Hulu, of which Disney owns a chunk.

But the idea of expanding the Marvel digital service from Marvel Unlimited to something closer to the DC Universe streaming service has definitely been talked about, and was the subject of some gossip in the New York Comic Con bars the other weekend. More for that bar talk to come…

So… how much would you pay for a Marvel Unlimited service that contains all those tens of thousands of comic books, alongside the Netflix, Fox, Hulu and animated TV shows and maybe a movie or seven?

And will they, like DC Universe, exclude us British folk?

Look to 2019…
